Each baby and swing is different. I if the swing just sits up and doesn't give the baby any head or neck support wait until the child can control holding its head or moving a little more. But, If the swing has different reclined settings use what will best support your baby's head and neck. We didn't put our little girl sitting up in the swing until she could control her head from hitting the front, sides or back of the swing. But from about 2 or 3 months laying down, it put her to sleep. It came with head and neck support. check out Gerber items or Graco. They are pretty good.

You can put your baby in a baby swing now. If he is really small you can put blankets around him. If you wait until he is 4 mos old he will be old enough to go in and exorsaucer and you wont need the swing.Good luck.

My son loved the swing when he was about your sons age. I take it you are first time parents? That's cool. A good learning experience that not everything has to go by the books, by your second and third you'll be letting the kid do somersaults off the couch at 6 mo's old (not really but you get my drift)!! LoL!!
Congrats on your new baby!

Until baby can hold up head on their own.
I recall reading about muscles and neves in neck years ago and the importance of this growth development.
2-4 months in my opinion is too soon. I would want to cuddle and hold my baby as much as possible, as babies grow into toddlers too fast. Enjoy the moment!
FLOOR TIME is best at this time. There are lap cushions available to support babies head and ease any arm muscle pains you may be experiencing.
Check out "baby stages" and "growing stages" at baby.com & "ivillage.com.

It usually tells you on the packaging that the swing comes in. If not, you can ring up the company who makes it.

I put my daughter in it right away and she loved it!!! I had to put towels and pillows in it with her for quite a while but I used it immediately. Put your little one in it and see how it goes. Just watch him really closely and use cushions to hold him in place. Good luck and congratulations!!!

I put mine in one when they were newborns. Just make sure their head is protected.
