I feel your pain I just turned 49 yesterday. It has been one of the biggest challenges of my life. I have been looking for about a year. I believe I am going to be offered a job next week. I have already been through 3 interviews, and the company has already flown me to their headquarters and I meet with the company owners next week. Just keep plugging away and try to make your cover letter somewhat unconventional so it will get noticed.

You will get people that just lie to your face and they will and think nothing about it. What ever happened to integrity in the job recruiter field. About 95% of the recruiters I dealt with were dirtbags.

I guess you can only go on doing what you've been doing. You'll turn up trumps in due course. In the meantime use your spare time to enjoy God's creation in the countryside - birds, flowers, beautiful scenery - things you may have been too busy to enjoy before.
