Long time ago it was called Bahasa Malaysia. A few years back, Malaysian government decided to call it Bahasa Melayu. There are some reasons behind the decision but it's nothing big. Maybe they want Malaysian start speak to in english as well.
Anyway it is still the Malaysia national language.

The government try using Bahasa Malaysia cause Bahasa Melayu has the Malay address on it and some races may sensitive to this kind of situation. (Resource from my school teachers). Since Malay is the official language of Malaysia. I think Bahasa Malaysia is the best. But it is complicated. Some may use that or that.
