AVG Anti-Virus
It's secure, regularly updates itself and doesn't consume vast amounts of memory (like e.g. Norton).
Best of all it's free!

Remember, if someone is giving something for free, on the other hand if you're purchasing something , I would rather prefer to go for purchasing , when the issue comes to the matter of virus, I have been using Mcafee for around 2 years ( yes, registered version, obviously I had to spend some) however, keeping in mind the existing and emerging new threats from the internet, I really couldn't get the peace of mind in getting a free anti-virus program.
You can get a good idea about the user comments/product reviews about anti-viruses on http://reviews.cnet.com/?tag=hd_ts
Even it cost some money, it's better to have the peace of mind, and Mcafee no doubt, the best .

What up?
there are many opinions on this but the stongest antivirus and firewall i have ever seen is called F-Secure they have a 2 hour turnaround time on new viruses which at this time no-one can match as norton's is the closest with a 6 hour.
hope this helped out alittle have a great day...

i would put a negative on everyone's answer. they all seem to work but don't take out everything. i have used everyone they mentioned above me. people say that this and that did rid my computer of the virus. that is because the free stuff doesn't detect everything!!. the absolute hands down is PREVX. goto the site and read what it is and does. they are the only free trial program that is the actual full version and get rid of things without having to pay to have things fixed. read it. it is WORTH BUYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
