All you need is a installation CD for either WinXP or Win98. Change the boot order in the BIOS setup temporarily. Set the DVD/CD drive as the number one in the boot order. Some systems get to the BIOS setup by hitting the F2 key repeatedly directly after startup, others use the ESC key. Once you change the boot order, reset the computer with the installation CD in the tray. The installation instructions will appear on the screen. Are you talking about an external HDD? Those are for expanded storage or backups only, you can FORMAT them, which sometimes you must do because if you use WinXP the file format is NTFS and if you use Win98 they are ready to use because they are formatted with the FAT32 file format which will not work for backing up from a WinXP computer. If you need drivers for the drive itself you should be able to get those online from the drive's manufacturer. Those are only needed if you are using Win98 or Win95. WinXP will automatically recognize the external drive and load the drivers for it.

Use a domicile windows 98SE setup disk and run fdisk to delete the non-dos partition at thecontinual which will eliminate Vista. Set 2 walls , a dos partition and a non-dos partition. set up ninety 8 first on the dos partition format it fat32. Then set up XP on the prolonged non-dos partition and format it NTFS. once you boot it supplies you the decision of which os to load. in trouble-free terms issue i can see is that there would no longer be any ninety 8 drivers for various hardware in the computer. The more recent chipsets etc wernt even seen at the same time as ninety 8 grow to be out.
