it's a not a rule of thumb...
the quality of the thing you are reading is essential rather than the quantity... and wanting to be a leader and having the wisdom, the good judgment, the toughness under pressure are all important aspects that should be mastered not only read about from books!

Yes and no. Education cannot be complete without reading, which is an essential part of the learning process, that helps us become ideal leaders. However, just as important is following this through with actions. A person might have acquired all the book knowledge in the world, but if he does not have the ability to translate this into the drive to motivate others, or make a difference in the world then his intelligence stands for nothing. It is a combination of smarts, determination, and attitude that makes a good leader.

Leaders are usually the ones who have a unique combination of charisma, knowledge and wisdom.
In addition, they need an ego-centric mentality.
They need to believe that they can glean the correct answer from a myriad of alternatives.
