PDA is a generic name for handheld computers (Personal Digital Assistant). There two major brands on market - Pocket PC(it runs under Windows Mobile OS by Microsoft) and Palm (Runs under palm OS)

Pocket PC's are manufactured by HP,Dell,Asus, Toshiba
Palms are manufactured by PalmOne

usualy Pocket PC's are easier to use to experienced Windows user, but more expansive that Palm devices. Palm devices are cheaper and more phone book with computer features, while Pocket PC are computers that has phone book feature

Pocket PC is the name your device when you have windows mobile installed. PDA is a collection name of all handheld computers. You don't call a blackberry a pocket pc. And you don't call a Mac a Windows computer. :p
