These recommendations are loosely based considering I don't have more facts.
Intercontinental, The House of Blues, The Palmer to name a few.
I would definitely stay in the Michigan Ave. area for a good location to all that you desire.

The pickings are a little slim around the Museum since it is on the south side, near the University of Chicago and some bad neighborhoods not far away. However, you might try a few hotels in the south end of downtown or ones near McCormick Place, since that is about 4 miles up Lake Shore Drive from the museum. As for restaurants and clubs, it all depends on what you want. Morton's or Eli's work for a great steak, the original Pizzeria Uno or Gino's East for deep-dish pizza, Nick's Fish Market is a good place as well. Plenty of good downtown bars as well that pretty much cover anything you need. Do a search on "night clubs on Gold Coast" and that will bring up plenty. Taxis will work best in this situation, or you can splurge and get yourself a limo to be at your beck and call.

There are several hotels in the northern Michigan avenue area. The knickerbocker for example is close to Michigan avenue shopping, off the lake, close to every fine restaurnt in the area, and you can walk a few blocks to the "gold Coast" where you will find more of everything you have on Michigan Avenue and all the good bars and clubs! Check all the hotels in this area such as the "W" , The Peninsula, Double Tree... etc...

We stay downtown one weekend each year and have found the Homewood Suites to be our favorite. Anywhere you pick will be pricey, but this place has nice suites and the best breakfast buffet we have ever had! This hotel is also right off of Michigan Ave. Other nice places are Hotel 71, The Fitzpatrick, Courtyard Marriot and Marriot Suites. Check websites like Hotels.com for rates.

I always search for standby hotel Chicago and then choose a tour related site from the first few. I always find that they have a link to hotels but it helps you with what is on in the area. Good luck.

There are many nice hotels on Michigan Avenue or in near vicinity of it. Drake Hotel if you want to go for something more expensive, or Allerton Hotel if you want something cheaper but still good.
Check out the hotwire, expedia and other cheap deals sites for the best deal.
