as my mobile phone battery is being overcharged.i have sony erricson w810i walman phone

You can't on the 810. I have the same phone. I think the pin that acts as the charger is permenantly on. A second pin connects between your phone and pc giving it access t othe contents of your memory card.
I don't think you can overcharge the battery. The phone monitors the charge of the battery. Once it's full it should take less of a charge just to top up the energy it uses.

don't turn the computer on!!!. Seriously if there isn't an option not to charge the only thing you can do is to only connect the phone when it is well down on charge, so you complete your work before it gets full. The phone should prevent excess charging so maybe it's not in proper order. On my Motorola it only charges when connected and not using data access

You can. It's not an option for that phone. Upgrade to the W950i that gives you the option straight away.

i have the w950i and whenever you plug it into usb, it brings an options menu up and one of them is whether you want it to charge through usb or not - so grab yourself a w950

I believe you can buy a data cable that doesnt charge your phone but im not sure

i don't think you can stop it from charging once you plug it in.
