any ideas, recs, online sites to check out? greatly appreciated.

u might find 1 on cycletrader.com, but it wont be a bike that's only 2 or even 3 years old at that price. unless u are willing to get a 5 yr or older bike, u aint gonna find 1. if this is ur first bike, that bike will bury u when u disrespect its power. it's a race type bike, and street is an entirely new animal with completely different rules of engagement than dirt. and florida doesnt have sport bike worthy roads either...if u want to have fun on a sport bike, u need corners that would make a cager break it down to 30 mph at least. florida is more suited to baggers for all the flat land in that state.

For $2,500 you're going to get someone else's used bike that is probably a piece of crap, and you'll spend twice that much on maintenance in the first year alone.

Take into consideration that with a motorcycle, you're putting your life on the line every time you ride it, so it MUST be in top condition at all times.

Spend the money and get a new one from a dealer. Prepare to spend at least $5,000 on the bike, but it'll be worth it.

You can easily find a sport bike for that price. I picked up a 93 GSXR750 for a grand in northern Missouri. Be patient you can find one. Don't be afraid of broken plastic it's easily replaceable. Good luck and happy hunting.

my rule of thumb: its gonna cost you about 3500-4000 to have something "decent"; whether you get the bike for four grand and do nothing to it or get the bike for a dollar and use the rest of the money for repairs, etc... check out www.traderonline.com; if you are thorough, you can find some killer deals

2500 for the a ninja, r6, or a gsxr? if your looking for 2004 and up, it be hard to find one for that low. expect to find a high mileage on it. you can easily find like new ninja 250's (newer models) for around 2500. look on craigslist, thats where i found my gsxr 600.

You can't be serious. You will not find a decent GSXR for $2500. Maybe an SV 650.

You can find bikes on E-bay every day for that price. Or you can steal one.
