Its the one place i really want to go to next time im in the Philipines. So im looking for personal experiences from anyone that has been there? Are there many tourists there? Is it safe for a young Australian couple? What are good things to do there?

Me! 10 years ago, i took the boat from cagayan (i'm not sure if there is still such route i heard a plane takes you there directly)i was the only tourist that time (may-june). My friend has ivatan roots.
Very safe! Nice people, very warm and welcoming. Zero crime rate. they have their own dialect but can speak and understand english. Beeeyootiful natural landscape, houses of limestone rentable very cheap. Try to visit other nearby islands.
This is the best month to go there, avoid the rainy season.

Batanes is a good place in the Philippines. It is the northernmost province in the Philippines. It is a group of islands, that is why it is near in the sea. It is also not crowded because only few people live there.

batanes as the two mentioned, is a very remote and small place. very few cars even public transportation is i think rare..:) but a very good place to visit, it's just that we can't assure you of your safety and good accomodation. but if you're the adventurous type, then go for it. the nearby provinces of batanes - cagayan and the ilocos regions are also good places to visit and spend a few days or weeks. you could drop by there before or after coming from batanes.

As i have heard from Corina Sanchez whom i think who knew who she was (abs-cbn journalist) Batanes is such a nice place to go, not crowded and it is a very quiet island as this island is not popular as many beaches in the Phils.
