Its because old buildings were basically works of art...they took time & skill and attention to detail. These days, a large building can be "thrown up" in a matter of weeks. It's about speed & mass production...not quality and aesthetics. I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where all our old, beautiful, antebellum buildings & french architecture was wiped away. I'm afraid that--even after we rebuild--nothing will be the same. I think they're going to put up as many simple design buildings as quick as they can & we're going to lose so much of the beauty that this area had.

ISNT THAT THE TRUTH ! HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS OFTEN LOOK LIKE THEY ARE MADE WITH A ROBOTIC STAMPING MACHINE OR COOKIE CUTTER LOOK. EVEN SOME OF THE FOLIAGE IS FAKE GRASS AND PLANTS. IF WEVE SEEN ONE PLACE IT LOOKS JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER PLACE FROM EAST TO WEST AND NORTH TO SOUTH. FRANCHISES ARE EVERYWHERE AND THE SMALL BUSINESS HAS DRIED UP. INDIVIDUALITY IS NEARLY NON-EXISTANT, AS FOR GOOD OR BAD, BAD! IN MORE WAYS THAN A FEW.
