So please tell me stuff like, if it digs up the garden, what can i do to stop it or stop it from happening? And since its a puppy, can i teach it to be house broken and stuff alot easier since its still young? please help.

It teaches kids responsibility and I'm not a big pet person, but my brother is. He sleeps with the dogs, plays with the dogs, and is just so loyal to them.

Dogs also provide a real comfort because they love you unconditionally and I know from having dogs that they have different personalities. Some are independent, some are really friendly, some are smart, some love playing with toys, some are lazy. It's fun to explore their personality.

Also, dogs don't cause as many allergies as cats or other furry pets. Depending on the dog you get, they can be very low-mainanence.

Also, most dogs liked to be walked or at least taken to the park to explore a little, encouraging people to get outside and exercise.

Some cons are that they do live for a while so they are a commitment. They can be expensive and they do need to be trained. You need to take care of them so they will have a happy life. They can also create messes.

I, personally, like dogs better than cats because you get to play with them more. Generally, dogs are more friendly towards strangers, and they are more lovable. There are so many different breeds that you can find one to suit your individual needs (house size, activity, temperment etc.)

One note to your mom, kids often promise that they will take on the responsibilities with their pets. I did, my brothers did, but we don't (or in my case, didn't). So if you are serious about having a dog, set up a system for yourself to take on the responsibilities as best as you can. Like picking up dog poop, washing the dog, feeding the dog, making time to play with the dog every day. Make those part of your weekly (daily) chores.

Also, you need to do your research on what kind of dog you want. The breed you want and the breed your mom may want could be different, tell her it is a good opportunity to research and it also gives her a good opportunity to have some quality time with her son.

One last bit, dogs who shed need to be cleaned up after more. I prefer dogs that do not (or shed very little) because too much dog hair messes with my allergies. If people do not clean up after pet shedding, it gets stuck in the carpets, rugs, laundry, fabric furniture - just everywhere and is very disgusting.

oh golly there is to much to say!
they are great family member(not pets!) there greta friends if treated right. liek they say mans best friend.
i dont see anything bad things about getting a dog though. its not a bad thing you have to feed and walk and excersice it. its all fun. and its all worth it. i could not live without dogs. well all animals infact. they make great friends. they know when your sad and are always there for you when your going through a rough patch. they dont speak back and dont say a bad thing. they dont even act badly they dont know any better.
depends how you treat them.
it all depends on the dog to be house broken easier. but not the breed just the dog its self. some are easy some are a tad harder.

defo go to a pound and get a pup saves its life! plus petshops are a rip off and breeders arnt always the best way to go.
you can teahc a puppy to not dig in the garden but make sure you have somnewhere for it do dig. they like to dig and run around ect.it takes a while to train a dog to not do stuff and to do stuff. so remember they cant understand you so be patient.

go to pound! :)

good luck mate

Having a dog is a big deal, especially a puppy. First of all, are you going to have the time to spend with it? I think that is the most important question because dogs want your love and attention and they deserve it. A puppy needs to be house-trained and that takes time and patience. Also, puppies like to chew alot and they are not too particular on what they chew on. So they need toys. They also need upkeep: food, shots, neutering, etc. There is probably alot more that I can't think of right now, but if you can handle all of that, having a dog is a wonderful experience.

Getting a dog is not childish.

It's easier to get a dog that has already been house trained so you don't have to do it. The pound has many year-old dogs that people had to give up for one reason or another. As far as teaching it things, come back and ask those questions as the problems arise and we'll help you with everything then.

This is a prob. I had with my parents! Train the dog to be a non-digger or anything else it may do like tear up stuffed animals or scratch up the floors. Say to your mom something like, they guard the house and can eat your leftovers! Hopefully for your mom, it will work. If it doesn't move out of the house and get one yourself and prove your mom wrong. This will show her how responsible you really are and hopefully she'll trust you enough for you to get that puppy! Good luck!

You know what once you get a puppy and it becomes part of the family, there really aren't any cons.

It teaches responsibility, and you get a big KISS from the dog when you get home

Then "lay on" what we "Yanks" call "The Capper"... Tell your "Mum" ("MOM"), that WINSTON CHURCHILL had a DOG !
