I'd say Portland Trailblazers during the late 90's/early 2000's. They have a powerhouse lineup that should have won the championship every year.

Just look at whom they've got: Pippen, Sheed, Steve Smith, Wells, Stoudomire, Sabonis, Kemp, Schrempf, Rod Strickland, Jermaine O'Neal, Brian Grant, Kerr, Derek Anderson... and the list goes on and on.

This year, I'd say Miami is an underachieving team. For a defending champion to be on the bubble in 8th place in the weak East. That's just pathetic with all the talent they have.

If your talking about perennial underachievers, I don't think there is a more underachieving team than the Clippers. Sure they've had a couple of good years, but even this year they're barely out of the playoff picture and running out of time.

The Pistons of last season (05-06). They were a huge dissapointment in the playoffs when they had the best record in the league and during the season there were talks of them beating the Bulls 96 record of 72 wins. The Pistons lost their heart in the Playoffs and almost lost to the Cavs. Then they got killed during the Eastern Conference Championships by the Heat. They were a huge dissapointment when considering the players on the team, all but Tayshaun were selected as ALL-Stars last yr.

Portland doesn't do a very good job of taking care of a good thing. bear in mind we got pippen, smith, Damon, Sabas, Schrempf, strickland (The second time), DA, and The Snow Man in the twilights of their careers. The Real Rip City will be back again.

Biggest underachieving team goes to the 2005-06 NY Knicks, and I'm a New Yorker saying that. And I think most New Yorkers would agree with me. Oh, Isiah, would you spend like that if it was YOUR money?

I'd say the Knicks of today. Total underachievers.

With it's proud tradition and almost fanatical crowd support, the current crop of players are a big let down and a shame.

I say sack them all bring in better players. Players with more passion and commitment.
