The Aga Khan Palace, Pune was built in 1892 by Sultan Mahommed Shah, Aga Khan III, as an act of charity to provide employment for people hit by famine in the neighboring regions. It was donated to India in 1969 by Prince Karim El Husseni, Aga Khan IV.

The Aga Khan Palace is closely related to Gandhi's life and his contribution to India's freedom struggle. Gandhi's wife, Kastürbā and his long time aide Mahadev Desai breathed their last in this house. Charles Correa built their samādhis (memorials) in the outlying grounds. Gandhi's ashes are also interred at this location. Today, this mansion is also known as the Kastürbā Gāndhi Memorial or, Kastürbā Samādhi.

About 2km along the road from Yerwada Bridge (coming out of Pune city) going towards the airport, close to the golf course. Any rickshaw driver can take you there. (Insist on the meter being used!) It is on the right side of the road.
But in case they don't know it, from train station go to Koregaon Park / Bund Garden Rd area, go over the river bridge, turn right and keep going 2km, the palace is pinkish-brown and distrinct from all the new high rise apartment blocks.
Everyone in the area knows it.
