For 200 years people have had the right to smoke in this country. The Indians smoked before that. The government has condoned smoking for years. It got millions from taxes and licenses to sell and manufacture cigarettes.

There is not one scientific study that proves that second hand smoke causes cancer, none, but some do good, holier than thou, says " Because I don't smoke, I don't think you should either."

It is all about taking away your Constitutional rights one at a time. It also allows State Governments to make the bureaucracy bigger, thereby sucking up more and more of your tax money to operate and give their good ol' boys high paying jobs.

That is the way it is in a Democracy like ours, where the few control the many. When are we going to get rid of this tyrannical Democracy and go back to a Republic, like our founders wanted???

Ben Franklin was asked, " What have you brought us?" and he replied, " A Republic, if you can keep it."

You know, if you're driving an automobile and go to sleep at the wheel, you are going to crash. That is what is happening to our country today. Our chauffeur, Congress, is asleep at the wheel and we are in the car.

Because if you smoke near me, I smoke too. But I don't want to smoke your smoke. How would you like it if every time I had a glass of wine I forced you to have one too? Well, you'd probably guzzle it down as most smokers are drinkers too!
Filthy disgusting habit and at last the government are doing something about it.

I was a smoker up til 9 years ago. I gave up. I wanted to give up so I stopped. Only people who cry addiction are those without the will power or the desire to give up.

The tobacco industry has been advertising - not the government.
We all know it's very bad for us, lets bite the bullet and do it.
That said, I have been a smoker, and can sympathise. In some ways, it can be seen as yet another piece of 'Big Brother' control.

This is happening because most of the people are like cattle and just follow and not think for themselves. I don't think smoking is not the best thing to do but it is not my business if others want to smoke. I think the no smoking in the restaurant thing is good and such but not to be able to smoke in parks or your own car that is going too far!!! We are losing our rights slowly people this is a sad thing.

I know. Such hypocracy - and it's amazing how a whole nation can suddenly change its tune in a generation based on a bit of 'propoganda' here and there - as well as whatever the moral code is for the time. There's far greater dangers out there than a smoker. Maybe they should ban those first.

What next? Fatness? Slimness?!

Only the spiritual people and the chief smoked tobacco every once in a while. They used tobacco because it gave them a euphoric feeling. My mother tells me that the Indians gave us tobacco to grow as a revenge for raping and pillaging their people and land. Every time you smoke a cigarette, it paralyzes the cilia in your lungs that help you cough up foreign crap. And as everyone knows, That isn't all, It is also a carcinogen.

I quit 4 years ago and its the best thing I've ever done and anything to help people quit will be a good thing.

You know what I do when someone lights up around me? I stand up and tear one loose (pass gas) right in their face. They usually get mad, but I tell them, I am just showing them the same respect as they are showing for me.

Prohibition all over again. These bureaucratic clowns never learn. Yea right the government didn't help push cigarettes, they made billions off the business, they just turned their backs whenever one started pushing this century's hot buttons.

Weird ain't it!!!
As long as you can drink yourself senseless, go out drinking, get plastered, beat someone up, kill them, drink and drive, have accidents, falls, treat the kids appallingly, beat the wife up, kick the dog,..it's all ok. But the moment you light a ciggie up, the conscience police will get you.
