I mean you know secretly desire all the good things...fancy cars, a villa for summer, vacationing in exotic places?? It's a fact that all of us can't have everything and many of us are in fact content with our 'medium income' lives, but do you secretly wish for the luxuries or not?

It'd be a complete lie if I said that I didn't wish for more at times.

I come from a slightly higher middle-class family, and so my parents almost always are able to buy the things that me and my sister ask for - be it the new game console coming out, to clothes. Even so, I do find myself almost constantly wishing to be richer; a wish that I guess was born more or less since the beginning of last summer, when I went to a trip to Las Vegas. We had rented a beautiful house there for our vacation, and it was simply drop-dead gorgeous. It was decorated in a cliche-y rich style, and after seeing that, I felt that our home in comparison just didn't match up.

After that, I guess I became much more conscious about my current class, which I was (and still am) not too content with. I mean, I really would jump at the chance to live a 'movie star' kind of lifestyle, which at my current predicament seems almost impossible.

It's kind of hard though, since as a Christian, I'm also countered with the thoughts that I should be grateful for what I already have; and that there are people out there that have so much less than I do. My Jr. High pastor also always seemed to preach on things such as not trying to focus on what material things we wanted, which kind of left me wondering if I was committing some kind of sin for wishing that I could be wealthy.

But in all, despite my insecurities for wishing so, I guess that I would have to say that I do desire for a better life - it's just the question if I would go for that kind of life if given the chance.

...xD But I guess as a thirteen year old, I shouldn't think too deeply on things like that, eh? :P

Sometimes I wish that I do so that my kids would not have to go without like I did when I was little but then what would that be teaching them? Right now I am working hard for my money to give my kids what they need and they know how to make a dollar stretch. So what is more important? Things or the working hard for it. We are happy with what we got. We know that it is the "thought" that goes behind the gift is what counts. So yes right now poor is happier than rich.

I live the somewhat rich life, its not all its cracked up to be. Sure its nice to have everything when you want, but I grew up poor, then I met my husband and he spoils me. I see first hand how money can be more important to some and it gets in the way of the more important things. When I had nothing, I felt richer because my family were closer and didn't worry about having rich things. We felt rich with each other and thats enough for me.

No, I really and truly don't. I am content and
happy with my life as it is. Just think about how
many ruptured lives you see because of big
money, fame and fortune?

Sure, I wouldn't mind winning the big prize on
a game show. But I have resolved that, if I ever
do, I will not allow it to change my life style.
There is more to life than money....and if your
life depends on money....then you don't have
a life.

Of course I do. If only to be able to share my wealth with my friends. When you have tons of money you can do things normal people can't: go to expensive restaurants, watch movies in your own personal theater, swim in your indoor pool or jacuzzi, throw gigantic parties, go on fantastic trips, etc etc etc. Basically, money creates entertainment that most people just don't have daily access to.

In small towns, children have nothing to do with their friends when they hang out... do you know what happens then... drugs. I know because I lived in a small town just like that. Not that all drugs are bad... in moderation, but the alternatives to drugs when you have money can be just as good or maybe even better.

its man's nature to wish for what he has not got. so, of course all do compare themselves with people richer than selves and long for those luxuries which they do not posess. basic luxuries do not satisfy us too, v r always aiming higher...and strain our neck!
