Because we want to appear to be valued, respected and worthy. In reality though we don't have a life so it's something to do.......

Hi,
I answer questions, where I feel I am able to help, because I want to do that...help!
People on 'Yahoo Answers', generally have a need for a question to be answered as fully as possible and I devote some time most days to trying to help as many people as I can, however slightly.
The points don't mean much to me, as I can't really do anything with them, but there is a certain satisfaction in seeing them grow.
Generally I avoid answering nonsense questions as I don't 'need' any points (see above) and if I was in it just for points I would answer with one or two word answers as many answerers do, so I could answer dozens every day.
There is a real satisfaction in reading sincere thanks from people I have been able to help.
Cheers,
BobSpain

I think everyone likes to get into somebody else's business every once in awhile. By answering these questions we can do that and still do a little bit of good while we're at it.

Why do we ask questions in the first place?
Oh to be a human is such a complex task is it not?
We seek and strive and doubt and question and believe and ask and eat lots of ice cream.
We answer because we can.

EGO.
Every person has ego which make him or her to think that he or she knows more than other person. Some TV news, you just find out and try to tell everyone like no one else knows. Only you know. Lot of people read book and next dat, try to share knowledge to all his family members. That knowledge is not their own, it is borrowed but person's ego make them to do.

So I can get more points, so I can questioned more about the world of conciousness I live in. Partially because its a competition as well.

To share with other person, to feel good about myself (when my answer is chosen as best answer), and to get extra points!

to earn points, what!
It is like working in the real world, to earn money.
haha... but, it is NOT that important than working in real life, ya.
And, the PLUS point is that we share our knowledge with the rest of the world.
