Social Security has me down as being born in 73 when I was really born in 85. You might think this was cool cuz it'd make me eligible for benefits earlier than if they had my real age, but the discrepancy makes it impossible for me to get a driver's licence. Luckily I live in NY where I don't really need one, but that would mean I could never move out of the city. I applied for a correction twice in the last 6 months and they won't change it. I've read all these horror stories of people in the same predicament and they end up stuck without any change. I read one case where a person was able to fix the problem by having a judge write a court order for them. How can I do that? (Yes, they already have my birth certificate and passport proving my real dob, but post 9-11 proof doesn't seem to be good enough for them to make their change) Anyone know a judge?

An original birth certificate taken to the Soc Security office should be enough to get the change processed. To get a judge involved will necessitate you getting an attorney involved , which won;t be free.

I would contact the office of your Congressman , explain the situation , & request their assistance or advice on resolving this issue.

They help w these type of bureaucratic nightmares frequently, & they are there to serve you. Good Luck !
