Yes they do work. They are meant to aid you in knowing when you are ovulating...hence the ovulating kit. Be sure to keep track of when it is, because if you are not getting pregnant the doctor will ask you if you have tried the kits first to make sure that you are having sex at the correct time of your cycle.

The ovulation kits work by helping you to pinpoint the surge of certain hormones in your body. Many doctors recommend them when patients are trying to get pregnant. They can be very helpful if you're not certain when in your cycle you ovulate, or what signs to look for. You need to follow the directions and test daily at about the same time of day, until you detect the surge. Some people find them hard to read because you have to compare the lines to observe changes that help predict ovulation. You may also want to look for information about the fertility awareness method, which helps people learn to use basal body temperature, cervical mucous and other changes to help predict ovulation.

If you can pinpoint your ovulation to a 5 day window, the cheap ones work well...but if your cycle is really off, you'll need to invest in the digital one. It's great but it's over $100.

HELLO ~ Yes they do work 100%! I used The FIRST RESPONSE KIT and when it turns blue then you can have a baby. It doesn't give you gender only a baby! I have 3 healthy boys to prove it so good luck!!
