Because surely to exclude so many people from membership is to exclude so many people from doing the endless good deeds which Masons are said to be concerned with, is it not? Can any mason give me a good answer to this: namely, why, Freemasons, if you are concerned with helping others and not yourselves, are you so exclusive when this necessarily limits the good you can do for others because your numbers are necessarily less?

We don't exclude anyone. You simply have a lot of bad info and anitmason propaganda. Any non atheist can join. And if an atheist wanted to help with any of charitable programs he would be welcome to help.

WE DO NOT RECRUIT. IN ORDER TO JOIN YOU MUST ASK TO JOIN. NO WILL EVER BE INVITED TO JOIN IT IS AGAINST THE RULES

So if you want the truth about masonry email me. But most people seem to like to believe in silly conspiracy theories. So if you want the truth email me or read some of my other answers. But if you have fun believing in silly stuff like masons are an evil group, Hilter and Elvis still hang out and play golf together and that George Bush planned the attack on the wtc than keep on believing any thing you read on any silly web sites.

As far as what we do that is good. We raise and donate 1 million dollars a day to charity in America. Have you ever heard of the Shriner's hospitals? Shriners are masons.

The only way Masons "exclude" anyone is that a requirement of membership is that one believe in a supreme being. It need not be the Christian God, even. In addition, traditional Masonry is for males only.

Anyone who wishes to join Masons who is non-athiest is eligible for membership. Masons as a rule do not ask men to join, though. While occasionally you will find a man ask another, "Have you ever thought about joining Masons?", that question is usually posed to someone already involved somehow in the Masonic fraternity - for instance, a father of a Job's Daughter or Rainbow girl.

Have you ever heard of Shriner's Children's hospitals? Shriners are Masons who have reached a certain degree of membership. Are you familiar with the mission of a Shrine Hospital? They offer care to individuals under the age of 21 who are in need of care for a variety of conditions. Patients of the hospital are never charged for their care - I think that demonstrates more than "allegedly" doing good.

In short, they do not insist upon seclusion. Almost any man with an interest is welcome to join. But just like many fraternal organizations (Elks, Oddfellows, etc), they have their own private rituals and traditions which are shared only with those initiated.

Freemasonry is an oath bound fraternal order of men which derives from the medieval fraternity of Freemasonry. We adhere to many of the Ancient Charges, laws, customs and legends of operative Freemasonry. We are loyal to the civilian government under which we exist. We inculcate moral and social virtues by symbolic application of the operative stonemasons' working tools and by allegories, lectures and charges. Freemasonry obligates its members to obey the principles of brotherly love, equality, mutual aid, secrecy, and confidence. We have secret modes of recognition that permit members to recognize each other as brothers. We require a through examination into the mental, moral and physical qualifications of a petitioner and we admit men into the fraternity by secret ceremonies based in part on legends of the Craft.

Once a person has decided to apply for membership he fills out a petition signed by 2 members of the Lodge he desires to join. He gives the petition to one of the members along with the required initiation fee. The petition is read at the next stated meeting when the Worshipful Master will appoint an investigating committee who will interview the petitioner in person. The investigating committee will report back to Lodge at the following stated meeting when the members present will vote on the petitioner. Once accepted the candidate will receive the three degrees of Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft and the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason. There are certain requirements which a candidate must meet before he can proceed from one degree to the next.

One must obtain the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason before he is allowed to wear any Masonic jewelry. One must have a Belief in a Supreme Being and HOLY BOOKS play an important part in Masonic Rituals. The tenets of the Masonic Fraternity are
" Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. " The Masonic Fraternity is NOT a Secret Society but rather a Society with Secrets. No matter what one has heard the Masonic Fraternity is NOT Satanic in nature nor is it a Religion.

Freemasonry is NOT for everyone for many various reasons and Freemasonry is only one of many benevolent Fraternities who do good for society and mankind as a whole. As an example the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Moose, Eagles, Elks, Knights of Pythias, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Marine Corps League, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Each of these Organizations have certain membership criteria which must be met before one joins

Suggest if you are interested in pursuing interest in the Masonic Fraternity if over 18 years of age you contact a man whom you know to be a Mason for further information and an application. If under 18 you can inquire about the DeMolay Organization.

If no local Masonic Lodge is available then suggest you contact the Grand Lodge of Masons for the State you reside in.

human beings insist Freemasons are evil simply by fact they're poorly knowledgeable, and can't think of for themselves. those human beings are a similar ones who have self belief that extraterrestrial beings and reptiles rule the planet and administration government. Why do they suspect that? simply by fact this is much less annoying in charge somebody else for their mess ups, and to have self belief that somene else is on top of issues of their lives supplies them deniability. There are some pretend Christians accessible who additionally think of Freemasons are evil. they often understand no longer something approximately their very own faith - much less the fraternity - and can desire to have some form of outlet for their hatred. this is much less annoying to hate Freemasons than it relatively is to hate those of diverse religions - like Islam, working example - simply by fact another religions tend to be far extra obsessed with removing people who do no longer think of like them and have the audacity to voice that hatred. Freemasons do no longer deny Christ. Any fool might understand that.
