Because the Christians are being used for financial and political gains.

I for one am glad it didn't happen, abortion is not for me, but I don't need anybody legislating my body.

Since the Supreme Court decided that abortions were Constitutional, the Republican Congress and Presidency could not touch it. The only way they could make abortions illegal would be to get a Supreme Court with at least 5 anti-abortionists, or they would need a Constitutional amendment. They did not have enough votes or public support to get something like that passed.

well the easy answer is that a bill banning all abortions wouldn't pass in either house of congress because most people do not support a full ban. but they have passed several bills limiting abortions and adding parental notification
