I need to hear from your perspective I have a 18 year old step daughter her and her boyfriend just had a baby and now are expecting another (I know, we have heard it all) but this guy does not want to marry her, they are living together. He says he is NOT READY, I told her to move out and let him be, they have seperated several times, they are both young. Why won't young men marry the mothers of their children, when they are living together???? I told her that he needs to grow up and she needs to get out of his bed. What do you think? why do you think he hesitates ?

Although marriage would be the right thing to do in the eyes of society, but because you have said they have seperated several times, it could be a love hate relationship that would be disfunctional for all involved, especially for the little ones. Be more concerened about if he is stepping up his dad responsibilitys, because boyfriend, husband, future husband, whatever, is secondary. Also, 18 is awful young, and from that fact alone, his behavior seems 18 yr oldish

They both need to grow up is the bottom line. Your step daughter has a very tough road in front of her, and I hope for her two children's sake she will get the love and support she needs, if not from the boyfriend- then at least from her immediate family.

She doesn't necessarily have to get out of his bed, maybe it's a fun place, but take her to the doctor and get her on some birth control. Jeez! He's not marrying her because he has plans of leaving her one day either that or doesn't think that the stupid party and ritual is what's important, but 'not ready' doesn't go with the the last reason.

The guy just wants sex; he's not ready to be a father yet.

he is a child and fears responsibility. females just don't understand that a man can and will walk away from his children and without a marriage license it is just that much easier.
