to Love a person is to have the will to nurture that person's growth - spiritully, emotionally and physically

(M Scott Peck)

Note that this definition only really applies to love person to person and can be applied to self-love. It doesn't seem to allow for the selfishness of lust which may well be a completely separate thing, and it doesn't include the monomaniacal state of infatuation that is "falling in love" which is a totally different thing.

Yes, it's real. But crushes and infatuations are not real love. They are just obsessions. Some call it puppy love.
Love at first sight doesn't really happen. That's more likely attraction at first sight. But that can lead to real love. It feels very secure and you're never worried about whether he's going to cheat on you or not. You don't even think about it. And if he leaves for awhile, you don't cry about missing him. You hold onto the love. And there's no effort. It all comes naturally. You have a complete acceptance of the other person, though you're not blind to their faults.
Later on, it grows even stronger and the two can have a very good understanding of each other and a firm relationship that can last for decades. Well... people only live for decades. It could probably last for centuries. Hehe.
