People listen to music for the wrong reasons now a days.
Many people only like Fall out boy for pete or patrick.
some people only like the used because they are linked to my chemical romance.

The music genres are being over populated by fakes and wannabees. They All dress alike and they all claim some bands own other bands. (own meaning they dominate).

I love all types of rock and indie but when did dressing a certain way mean you have to like a certain music?

Okay so maybe a little contradictory, but If they are preps, and they do stupid prep things (like only know 2 words of the song) then they are wannabees... i dunno im just venting because my friends are werid and do those things.... ugh..

Your views on Real Fans Vs. Fakes and Wannabees..

ps. Im not saying preps are stupid, but most preps i know ruined green day for a lot of people.

i really hate [or really really dislike] those people who like music just to fit in or to be in the cool scene, whatever..

it really sucks how the "fakes" just like the band coz their lead singer is hot. the media really ruined rockbands, not just the preps. first, they started all this "emo" scene and began "grouping" bands into that category. preps who like emo then listen to socalled "emo" bands and then follow the emo bible, whatever they call it.. what if you go to a concert, and realize that everyone there are fakes??

i have a friend that listens to mcr and patd just coz she wants to be like the popular girls.. it's annoying!! the girly girls ruined bands like that!! sometimes, i just want to tell her to stop trying too hard..

they should stick with their favorite type of music, not just latch on to what's in..

p.s. i don't just like the used coz they're linked to mcr, i just think they are one of the bands that have really great music! =)

Pardon me...but the Used is my favorite band. From the first time I heard one of their songs I was hooked, and I think they blow MCR out of the water. So I'm a tad offended by what you said. In fact, I have a bear in my room named Bert, lol.

And no, I'm not one of the little poser girls with my Vans shoes and white belt with black nail polish. When I go to concerts, I lovingly refer to those girls as "scene h**s".

I may not know the words to every song when I'm at a concert, but for bands like Norma Jean, I don't care about the words, I care about the music. Same with As I Lay Dying, whose drummer is one of the best I've ever seen.

I do agree that it's annoying when you love a certain type of music, some people use it to get some or to have something in common with others, or because it's the 'fad" to be a rocker chick this month. My cousin is one of those. She can't even pronounce Saosin, she calls it "Sows-sin".

Be careful what you say about fans of the Used, sweetheart! Some of us really are just fans, not posers! :)

P.s. I don't really think Green Day sold out necessarily, I think that they were such an instant hit with the indie crowd, that other people sold themselves out and claimed to like them and made them more mainstream. I went to their concert in 2004 I think it was, and while I was annoyed that the people around me didn't know the songs and were complaining about the concert, I thoguth they put on a damn good show. They're still very much into the music ofit all. But if mainstream America is where you're marketed, what are you going to do? Stop making the music that you love so much?

Dressing a certain way doesn't necessarily mean you have to like a certain music. You might find that people that like the same genres dress similar maybe because they are influenced by the music.
As for people liking a band for the band members....I don't get. I mean, just because a member is hot or trendy doesn't make the band any better.
And hey, just because somebody doesn't know every word to some song, doesn't make them a "fake."
As far as I'm concerned, real fans just listen to the music, and not worry about WHO is listening to the music, or what everybody else is wearing and why.
Just enjoy it for yourself.

Green day is a great example, because while they used to be a fairly decent sounding band, they are now totally sold out. They claim to be punk, but they are nothing near...I honestly dont know the difference between bands anymore because they all sound the same, except for the few that have managed to maintain their individuality...I dont listen to much new stuff anymore, because nothing they do is from the heart anymore, its what the media wants...i guess money and fame could do that to you..

Back in my day(and I just cant believe those words came out of me)we went through the same thing, music defined us and who we were and what we stood for,who was the hardest, coolest, etc, but now being in my forties,I hear songs from my past, some of which I would never associate with,we called it glam or bubblegum rock, and they would play it to death.though I can now tolerate it,it takes me back to endless summers, and memories of my youth when life seemed easier,so as you get older this becomes less important.music seems to no longer define you, except for the dreams of yesterday.By the way,Green Day lost me with American Idiot, and the search for the grammy, commercialism with an out of date issue,"screw the war".I remember that movement during the 60's and the seventies and its now a very unoriginal ideal

I'm still stuck on 80's music because today's music generally sucks, most of the vocals sound like an old man straining to take a crap.
