Yes you can get seasons w/o pets. If you decide to buy earlier expansions you can install them w/o uninstalling anything. I will just make you play w/ the last expansion's cd.

You'll have no problems playing Sims 2 Seasons without having Pets or any other expansion pack - but it's almost certain that, if you get any of the earlier ones, you may need to uninstall & reinstall.
I've just got Sims 2 & Open For Business - not the University or Nightlife ones - & the game plays fine.
To get a definitive answer though, why not try posting this question on the offical Sims 2 site?
http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/start.php?openItemID=item.43,root.1,item.61,item.104,item.41,item.127,item.23
it also might be worthwhile checking there occasionally in case they upload any necessary patches for the game.

You can play Sims 2 seasons without pets. You dont need to do them in a specific order but after you finish installing it you will have to use the newest expansion disk.
eg. if you get pets first then nightlife you will still use the disk from pets.

the only way this might artwork is that in case you have bought a minimum of the final growth %.. In different words in case you have the backside pastime and your buddy has college and Nightlife and Open For corporation, Pets and Seasons. you may bypass purchase Bon Voyage and shop it and set up the above checklist out of your pals disk and then set up your Bon Voyage and that they're going to all play high quality. besides the undeniable fact which you won't be in a position to play the pastime with no need the Disk of the final pastime released which you have put in. It nevertheless potential you may desire to spend money Circuit city has BonVoyage for 18.00 on sale via the way this week. besides the undeniable fact which you will no longer might desire to take a place in each and every of the expansions. purely the final one that is released i wish that made sense

If you get the prior expansion packs AFTER you installed Seasons, then you will need to uninstall Seasons to install them in order!
Such a pain! But it seems to be the way Maxis works :-(.

If you plan on getting all the expansion packs, get them in order.
The sims 1 and 2 have problems if you don't install them in order.
So, get the expansion packs you want and install them in order. If you don't want pets (like me) don't buy it and you don't have to install it. Just don't change your mind later
=)

Yes you can play Seasons with out any of the prior packs, I think you'd have to reinstall them in order. That's how the original sims work. I'm not positive on this one though........

Of course you can. Most expansion packs only need the base game.
