What would it be like? Could it be contained? Would it be able to be seen?

The term "energy" is actually used in a variety of contexts, such as heat energy of a beaker of liquid, or radiation energy of infrared light, or kinetic energy of a speeding bullet, or even "mass-energy" of warped relativistic spacetime. But you want something "pure", not associated with any matter or particles (yes, even light is particles of photons). Well, we've got potential energy, which is an abstraction, not necessarily itself composed of particles or waves, even though it does require the presence of such. An object placed at a higher altitude, for example, is said to have "higher potential energy", meaning that it took work to get it up there, and when allowed to fall, will do work, or give up energy. As trivial this may sound, it actually plays a fundamental role in many general equations in classical, relativistic, and quantum physics. This is one kind of abstraction of energy that cannot really be "put into a bottle", nor can it be seen or even detected with instruments. Funny, huh? More than anything else, it's really just a computatational place-keeper rather than something real that you find in nature. No physicist has ever said, "Hey, there goes a bit of potential energy, whizzing by!"

I argue it isn't. The keyboard i'm typing on is authentic. Are keyboards authentic? No. "keyboards" are an abstraction; they seem to be a type that we outline. The keyboard i'm typing on I grow to be conscious of as a keyboard (I call it) yet i'm no longer defining it. it is particular. it is authentic. reality is what the Universe is, it is one aspect. We destroy down elements of it, we crew elements mutually and create precis issues we call diverse kinds. We make a mistake when we assume of of a type as "authentic". Its contributors will be (a number of them) authentic, besides the undeniable fact that the category itself is arbitrary. Is a contact pad a member of the category "keyboard"?
