I've seemed to notice that correlation. I myself am a reformed Republican...what happened you ask? College and higher level thinking happened.

No, A person does not become more liberal due to more education they become more liberal because the spend more time talking about how the world should be rather than living in the real world.
The majority of the "More Educated" people that are liberals is due to the fact that they generally have their wealthy parents paying their way. Where as the people who have had to earn every thing they have tend to be Conservative.
Also just because someone has the ability to parrot what some professor who could not make it in the real world says does not mean that they are Intelligent. Remember the Nazis sent their people to reeducation camps would you call them "Educated"?

being better educated doesn't mean you have a better understanding of the issues and how those dynamics play out in the lives of the people, business and culture in the country.

some colleges promote more liberal and few promote more conservative ideology. hot topic on college campuses in USA. some colleges and universities are practicing discrimination against students that don't parrot the favored opinion. education should promote learning and thinking. our education system in the USA needs some reform.

education alone doesn't make one a liberal or conservative. many experiences and exposures over a lifetime would help shape and influence those choices. an education should help a person learn to ask the questions and find and create answers that solve issues and make the world a better place ... for all(liberal idea? or just a basic human idea?)

well... let's look at a few things... some stats and just general ideas...

most universities are considered liberal... even by conservatives... why is that? does education have a "liberal bias"? or are they "brainwashing students"? hahaha...

the states with the highest levels of education vote democratic most of the time... those with the lowest, vote Republican....

now... do these things mean anything? I don't know... maybe they are just random occurrences?

but it's interesting none the less...

on a side note: I always find it funny how Republicans tell poor people to get an education if they are poor, yet as soon as you talk to people who happen to be liberal and have an education, they are stupid and an education doesn't really matter?.... hahaha... funny how that works?

The word "Liberal", for the fanatical Right Wing Conservatives' fantasized mind of nightmares, is just a distorted vocabulary to represent everything their childhood peers were allowed to do that they themselves were forbidden to do by their over-strict, abusive parents and disciplinary teachers! They likely grew up, still feeling angry at and envious of those happy childhood peers of theirs. Today, they have probably found their nest of friends who were similarly abused as children, and basically seize upon modern-times to make sure all suffer the same miseries and fate they had undergone during their abused days.

Doesn't it make one wonder why there are more divorces and crazy and murderous pedophiles in the Red States than there are in the Blue States? Is it because they, being still bugged by their abused past, can't bring themselves to enjoy happy relationships and only know how to hurt the way they had been hurt?

It's a fool's illusion that ALL Republicans are conservative! There are tons of Moderate Republicans and Liberal Republicans in America.

I wouldn't think so.

Liberal thinking tends to fade as folks learn more about how the world actually works.

As folks get better educated, they end up learning that "free healtcare for everyone" cannot be provided by a government that's already burdened by record deficits. Increasing taxes to fix that problem will only lead to a lower GDP and eventually spiraling tax revenues.

Thus, I would tend to believe that folks become more associated with a conservative viewpoint as they become better educated.

Generally, yes. The most conservative people are those who know nothing outside of what they're told by their preacher and their parents. Once a kid learns that there are other ways of thinking about matters, they're likely to investigate further. That's why education is not popular among many conservative ethnic groups, including those within the United States.

Conservatives are also likely to lack anything resembling a sense of humor, and that's something else that education often imparts.

You mean apt to be less of a stupid Bush choad if better educated?
I would think so unless they're working for the system. Get off Liberal and Conservative and get into Freedom vs Tyranny.

One thing that as been proved is that individuals who live in a big cities(e.i. 500 000+) are more likely to vote democrat. The opposite is also true. This is the most significant trend I have observed.

As for education: democrats tend to get the extremes. (e.i. people who have not graduated from high school and those who have their master's degree or doctorates) as for republicans they tend to get the votes of those who graduated from high school or college.

You can find lots of stats on voters identity at:

I don't think they become more liberal. I believe that they become more able to examine what the facts are, as they see them, and then make more informed decisions as to what they believe

I had a friend in high school who was a staunch Democrat. 30-some years later, he has his masters degree and is working on his PhD. He is now so Republican that it scares even me.

Education isn't about becoming liberal....it's about experience.

I really do not believe liberal or conservative have anything to do with education. Look at some of the richest men in our country, who are President's and CEOs of hugh businesses and they are Republicans.
