I never boiled fruits. I just peeled a med. size banana, peeled 1/2 apple, juice from 1/2 an orange & put in blender. I also added a baby cookie or 2 & then blended it well. Or instead of apple you can do 1/2 a pear or a whole one depending on it's size. You can add kiwi too instead of an orange or whatever. Just mix whatever fruits you have or are in season. It's good for them to get variety of tastes.
For food I would make enough for 2 days no more. I would boil 1 or 2 small pieces of chicken, beef, lamb, or fish, for 1/2 hr or so and add a carrot, potato, a bit of celery and when they're done I would put in blender and have for 2 or 3 feedings. I don't know if you find this easy but it worked out great for me.
Next time you can do a different meat, and pick 2 other veggies like broccolli, green beans 1/2 onion. Onion is good for flavor for the food. As your baby gets older you can add a bit of garlic for taste too...potato I usually always added for it helps to thicken up the puree. Plus you need to save the juice from the boil so you can smoothen out the puree. At the end, add some salt for taste, a teaspoon or 2 of olive oil, some lemon if you think it would go w/ what you made and then puree.
I hope this helped!

Hi. Well you don't need any recipies. You are right the jar food realy isn't enough I was told that jar food is only 4% food and the rest is all infant cereal. the best way to feed is what ever you are eating that night for dinner just blend in a food processer (Blindders don't work as well) mix a little formula or breast milk what ever you use to moisten it if it is food like meats and dry foods. and maybe a little cereal just a little though they may not like it at first because they are use to the jar stuff but it is so much more healthy and better for them and a profetional told me what was in the jar food. So yeah if you want real food go for it. It is a better decition on my mind and i will always make homemade food.

Make sure he's gettiing enough milk! This is what he should be filling up on first, before the other stuff. Breastmilk is all he needs and the most important food source right now. Don't let these meals replace milk, they should just add to it.
Just boil fruit and veggies for a little bit until soft, puree. Super Baby Foods is a good resource.

You may want to get the baby checked out first make sure the the stomach is handling foods properly. Adults have developed taste buds, babies do not, you do not need to add any unnecessary spices and what not to their tummies, if you feel the baby is hungry all the time, the amount is not enough. Combo's like 1st step fruit, with veggie topped off with a small bottle should be plenty.

Homemade baby food is really simple. With fruits, just peel them, boil them in water, drain them and puree them. With veggies you may have to pass the cooked food through a strainer. You don't want to add seasoning of any kind because babies have very sensitive palates and stomachs. You especially don't want to prepare the food to your taste. Are you giving your baby cereal? That can help fill them up.

we used to have a book called "feed me I'm yours" it had recipes. I used to cook carrots till mushy. I used the earth's best organic baby food with my youngest. I never thought home made food was any more filling for mine just more time consuming. You can always just puree in the blender what ever you have for yourself too. Like mixed veggies, you can mash your own bananas. My sister used to give her son home made refried beans. If he has teeth you can give him chunkier foods as long as they are sort of soft. When my youngest was little they had the tiny jars of food , first foods, and they were never enough for him. Your son should still be having 8 oz bottles of formula or be breast fed in addition to the solids.

Well I just cooked hamburger and meats. And put them in the blender. Same with veggies. Fruits don't always need to be cooked if they are soft. Potates, all that. Just cook it, save the juices as blenders need liquid to help puree it. I froze mine in ice cube trays so they were in meal size portions... a couple was one meal.
