Hi there

There are 3 kinds of teas that really help increase mother milk production:
- Mother Milk tea
- Lime-blossoms Tea
- Fennel tea -> it helps also against 3 moths colic, so if you see your baby has stomachache or a lot of gas. Just drink this!
The most important, if you breastfeed, you should drink 3 lt. a day & eat healthy food!

The following could reduce the mother milk production:
- mineral water with GAS
- acid drinks: drinks with lemon
- peppermint tea
- parsley
- Sage tea -> anti-inflammatory to cure infection aroud mouth & throat.

So if you have soar throat & you shouldn't take any medicine. You can boil hot water, pour on the sage tea bag & let it cool for 10 min, then gurgle with this water (Don't drink it!). Or...

If you see your baby's tongue is white & your breast is itching, then you should clean your baby's toungue with cotton stick dipped into sage tea (methode: see above!) before & after breastfeed.

Blessed Thistle and Fenugreek really increases milk supply. There is a tea called "Mothers Milk Tea" and it has both of these in it and some other safe herbs. Drink 3-4 cups a day but start with one a day and work up over a few days just to make sure you and baby do well with it. There isn't anything harmful at all in it but everyone is different so take 2-3 days to work up to full amounts. It has helped almost every mom I know to produce more or bring their milk back after a sickness or too many sleepless nights. Take naps if you can the first year. Remember, drink 60 - 80 ozs of water a day too. That is above and beyond juice or milk. Fennel is good for digestion but do not know if it is the best choice for milk production. The tea is easier.

Fennel works too. My midwife gives it out to Moms with newborns. I drank lots of it to help bring my milk in, and it worked. It's calming on the belly as well. Safe for baby if you are breastfeeding. YOu can buy the seeds and pour hot water over them, or buy tea bags.

Its actually Fenugreek, not fennel. The capsules work best. There is also "mother's milk tea" by Traditional Medicinals. Be carefull, you don't want to get engorged!
