Yes.

I was Republican the majority of my life. After the Iran/Contra scandal in the 80s and then when Bush Sr had the World Bank Scandal, I switched to Independent. I then voted for Ross Perot in 92 then again in 96.

After watching the unjustified and unmercifiul attacking of Bill Clinton, even though I never voted for him, I started thinking things through again. I got completely turned off by Republicans at that pt. None of the accusations they spent millions to investigate him for, resulted in any charges... he was impeached for lying about a sexual relation not anything he was accused of.

I then began to study politics more and more... researching. I came to the realization after studying many Congressional votes that Rep. always voted party lines while Dems tended to be more about what they were voting for. I also noticed the Reps were much more aggressive and hostile. I then re-registered Demo and have remained as such since 2000.

I voted for Reagan when I was 18, and I liked him. But as I got older I began to realize that I believed in causes that the Republicans were less likely to support than the Democrats, and for some years considered myself Indpendent. After the Republicans started skewing toward the religious right, and pushed their "Contract with America" and started the witch hunt on Clinton's personal life, I completely lost respect for that party.

I switched my votes to democrat after I witnessed the shouting of "shut up and sit down" by the senior Bush.

In the last six years, I watched with complete disbelieve of how corrupt and dishonest in the Republican. This will be truly a historical in American politics and may be never ever outdone by any future tyrants

I voted for Jimmy Carter in 1976 but after his mishandling of the Presidency I have voted Republican ever since with the exception of 1992 when I voted for Perot. I was just a kid when I voted for Carter but as I grew and matured I learned how the world really worked.

Republican and Democrat are wonderful titles...but they each represent finite concepts that people forget can overlap. I've never identified myself as either. Instead, I have set my own value structure and follow whichever political candidates best represent the majority of my interests.

I am an independent voter. I am more for co-operation than partisanship. I did not like Clinton's morals but in hind sight he was pretty good compared to bush. I liked Reagen, Bush 1 was alright bur not great. Carter was a good man but was not a very good president, My favorite was Nixon, I know he ended in disgrace, but he recognized that there is a China! Trade with China has helped our country more than with any other nation.
