Meander originally comes from the river known to the ancient Greeks as the Maiandros or Maeander in Asia Minor (now in Turkey, the river is called Menderes). The name became proverbial for a river or a track with a very convoluted path and metaphorically for windy speech and ideas.

meander means to twist and turn or winding

so i'd say it's a winding trail..
