You got rid of the people who made you feel miserable, but now you find yourself alone, what do you do?

I'm currently in the same boat as you, and I've been on this boat many times. Usually I just blatantly ignore the backstabbers for couple years or so, and make new friends (I talk to people who don't have many friends so that you don't have to compete right away) instead. With regard to the loneliness, I've just become immune to it due to years of short, horribly-ending relationships.

Find solace in the silence and let the stab wounds heal. Also I would double check my definition of the words "Friends" and "Friendships".. I would just stay away from people who carry knives..

Get involved in a different activity in order to meet a better class of friends. For instance, you could get involved in your church, join a local country club, take up golfing, go to the local walking trails, go to a gym or community center, get involved with the United Way.

get to know yourself. we are not defined by our friends. do things you want to do but can never find anyone to do them with you. let your back heal from all the stabbing. be proud of yourself because what you did is not easy.
