the cubs are my team - always will be, RIP Harry Carey.

I wish I could say that I back them 100% to go the distance, but they haven't shown any life since the infamous 'fan' catch a few years back that blew their chance for the world series. which florida won by the way.

I'm hoping that Lou P. can hold the team together and roll them through the year. But injuries just keep plaguing them. I don't see Wood lasting more than 15 starts. he hasn't been able to do this in about 5 years.

IF they stay healthy - they have a decent rotation and bulll pen to last them - time will tell.

You might want to take a close look at the Philadelphia Phillies. As far as the Cubs pitching, I don't think so. Kerry Wood has taken up his usual position on the team, the DL for at least two months. He can't pitch anymore as it is. Three of four starts when he comes back and he'll blow out his elbow for the 50th time. The Phillies are the team to beat in the NL.

Better chance at winning the NL Central? No team in the division, although Houston and St. Louis have equal chances and Milwaukee isn't far behind.

Better chance at making the playoffs? Both Los Angeles teams, Philadelphia, and Boston have better chances based on what they did to improve themselves (although LAA didn't do much, but that's offset by what comes next) and what each team is competing against in their respective divisions (Boston has a tough division, but they'll at least be the Wild Card based on what I said earlier).

Better chance at winning the World Series? Any team not named "Cubs" who makes the playoffs.

Mets might have an ok chance, Padres are not too bad, Cardnials are always there, Marlins are very young, Braves are ok as usual, Astros will be better if Clemens goes there, Dodgers finally got rid of JD Drew. So the NL is better than percieved.

I am neither a Cardinal fan nor a Cub fan. I am a baseball fan. I don't do drugs but if you think the Cubs will overtake St. Louis this year pass the bowl!!

I believe they have the best shot in the NL, if they would've had Lou a couple of years ago things would have been different.

Has a better chance at what, finishing last in baseball? Their rotation is full of guys who can't throw the ball 5 feet without tearing something.
