Okay so I was gonna subscribe to www.downloadmusicinc.com cause it sounds like a good site but is it legal is what I want to know? It charges 30.00 dollars for lifetime membership so if I pay for their service does that mean I will not get in trouble for using it? I checked out the website www.musicunited.org and it names a few sites that are legal but not all so I was wondering if you pay a membership fee to a website like this does this mean I am being legal about music downloading or can I still get in trouble?

There membership is for there site usage and not for what you download. Im assuming that you will have less ads and crap like that if you sign up. Start paying for your music like everyone else. There are no sites where you pay a one time fee and you can download all the music you want. Its like buying a map to your local music store for 30 dollars and you stealing cds instead of buying it.

You misunderstood the term "lifetime membership."
They mean the lifetime of the company, which might be measured in months or even weeks. The turnover in that business is very high.

If you can't afford to buy a lot of music, then get a library card. It's amazing how much music the public libraries have these days, and it's all free and legal.
