Is there something really there that causes these disappearances or is it navigator error?

I believe that the earth's magnetic field can wreak havoc on navigation systems and other electronic devices. To a certain degree I buy into the Bermuda triangle theory. Believing in full-scale alien conspiracies and time vortexes is up to the follower of the theory. Am I going to test the theory, probably not. I like the thought of my stupidity not contributing to my disappearance.

Also think of it this way. That area has always been a major shipping route and in later times aviation routes. By playing the odds, the more travel an area has the greater the likelihood of something happening also goes up. You always hear about the ones that disappear rather than the boring thousands that go that route annually. Its up to you, either way is great. There will always be doubt and just enough to keep the Bermuda Triangle theory alive.

It is a fact that some areas on the earth have strong magnetic fields, that can interfere with radios and sensitive equipment as used for navigation.
But I personally feel that The Bermuda Triangle has nothing to do with alien kidnap or interference. So much has be made of incidents that have alternate explanations.
It is also a major area of of flight plans and shipping courses, so the percentage of incidents against daily traffic is minimal.
It was brought to notoriety in the 70s and 80s when authors were finding the public had developed an interest in the new age philosophy.
The interest and shock value of alien abductions, etc.has waned, along with the rate of strange incidents in the Bermuda Triangle.
There is an area in the Sea of Japan that has an even higher rate of strange disappearances.
There is certainly no trace of a giant crystal on the sea bed that interferes with ships and planes navigation. Then sends them into another dimension.
This was a popular "cause" for the disappearances by one school of theorists of the 1970s.

I once watched on the Discovery Channel that the "poles" (North and South) reverse in the Bermuda triangle and because of that compasses point the opposite direction of where they are supposed to. This messes up navigation systems and etc.

Also there's boiling hot water jets in the Bermuda triangle that cause s the water to bubble. Some people think this might cause boats to upturn though no one is quite sure if it's enough force to actually cause this.

One of the scientific theories for the disappearances is large pockets of methane gas bubbling to the surface of the ocean, causing the water to lose buoyancy, sinking the ship. The same effect could cause planes to drop from the sky, as methane is lighter than air. This theory, however, does nothing to explain the vessels that remain afloat and intact, yet the crews are mysteriously missing. This is a most disturbing phenomenon, to me. Could it be pirates engaging in the slave trade? Mass hysteria, maybe? Crew-less vessels have nothing to do with spinning compasses and navigation errors. Ships with life boats still on board and no personnel have nothing to do with earthly releases of methane. Until there is serious scientific study of the region, all one can do is speculate.

I don't know what the "something" would be. I've heard numerous explanations, like on the Discovery channel and what not, but I don't think all of it could be reduced to navigator error. ...I mean 5 military planes disappearing all at one time, never to be recovered? That's a lot of error, don't ya think?
Me, personally, I would be a bit nervous traveling thru there.

I believe that the Bermuda Triangle really exists.
There are a lot of things in this world that we still do not understand, and this is one of them. It seems to me as tho it were a "rip" in the time/space continuum. I think they call it a "worm hole" in sci-fi terms.

Wherever those people from all those vanished ships and planes are, they're probably wearing all my missing socks.
