Not really. The hymen is very fragile. It can be torn from riding a bike or riding a horse, or if a girl goes for a gynocological exam. You can still be a virgin and not have your hymen.

Before concerning yourself about taking a girl/women's virginity, I really think you need to read-up on basic female anatomy first.
BTW the presence or absence of the hymen is no indication of whether or not a girl/women is a virgin.
But to address your question anyway: the hymen is right at the opening to the vagina. Therefore, depth is less than 1/2" If you're that short, you got much more to worry about than this question.

Lisa is correct. A female does not have to have sex in order to tear her hymen. They have done proved that even just playing ona playground could potentially tear it, and using tampons as well. So there is no "depth of penetration" that will tear it. And there is no real way of knowing if it's happened already or not ... all the hymen is is a very thin piece of "skin"... probably about as thin as rice paper....
Hope that helped.

The presence or absence of the hymen has nothing whatsoever to do with virginity. How can it when some baby girls are born without one?
Your question is moot.
