You were little when she died. Did she leave anything to your parents? That's generally how
a child would be provided for. Your aunt may have felt that people had always let her down, and, maybe they had. You were too young to be able to change that. Don't take it personally!

No one has threatened to euthanize you, have they? She knew that you would be OK.

Honestly? I think it was her money to do with as she pleased. I don't ever expect to inherit so much as a cent from any of my Aunts or Uncles.

And aside from her money, she may have thought when looking at her vases "awe--who'd want this old thing?"

I know a couple of folks who feel about animals the way your aunt did. I love the bejeezerz out of animals also! That does not mean I don't love my nieces with all my heart! They are all wonderful women/girls!

I don't know where I'll designate my funds at will time, but I know I have thought about it, and ALL of my nieces are just fine without any little bit of money I could give them.

Oh--P.S. My favorit Aunt died when I was 6. I am now 46. The best gift she could have possibly given me, she did--cracker jack and smiles whenever my little brother and I visited! And she ALWAYS had both! That spells love more than money. That is timeless and priceless!

She may have been hurt by one person and then took it out on all humans. So she decided to give it all to the animals. Also depends when she wrote her will. Did she die unexpectedly? If so, she may have wanted to change her will but never had a chance. Don't feel she didn't love you. Maybe she figured that you had parents to care for you and get you started whereas the animals had no one. She may not have equated money with love OR she intentionally left the money to the animals to piss off a son or daughter. If she loved you but didn't leave you any money, she probably had a good reason.

Your Aunt was honest in telling you her reasons. Animals do give unconditional love, respect and companionship . They NEVER ask for anything but love ( and food) in return. I fully understand why she did this. Your Aunt could see that you are strong enough to take care of yourself in this world. Many animals suffer because of humans and need all the help they can get just to survive. Dont dwell on the fact she did not leave you anything, enjoy your life.

It does seem hurtful, but she probably didn't mean it that way. She probably thought giving it all to the animals would 'solve' problems of dividing the money fairly among humans in her family. If you loved her a lot, she must have been deserving of your love, even though you were only five, children have a good sense about which people are good at heart. I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt you by not including you.

If you were only 5, she may have had her will drawn up before you were even born. She sounds like a very caring and generous person. It's a shame you didn't have more time with her, but be proud of her legacy. She undoubtedly saved many lives with that donation.

Who knows. I've had millionaire relatives die with no heirs, and they didn't leave me anything either. I don't even know what they did with the money. I wander about that occasionally. I doubt if she didn't like you. Maybe she thought all the money would ruin your life, that you wouldn't work for what you wanted if everything was handed to you. Look at alot of these stars kids.......drugs, alcohol......suicide....they had nothing to aspire to. Count your blessings I guess.

I think you're asking a question that has no answer. Your aunt did what she did for reasons only she knows. I wouldn't question how much she loved you based on inheritance. Remember her with fond memories and don't linger on the money that she didn't leave you. I loved my grandfather and I know that he loved me. He didn't leave me any money in his will. I'm fine with it. The memories of the time I was blessed to spend with him are worth more than the money.

I think your aunt knew that you would be okay....and in the meantime, her heart went out to all of those homeless unloved animals. I think she made the right decision. It's not that she didn't love you, she simply knew that you would be okay without money!
