What do you think the major stylistic differences are between the development of contemporary dance in the US (dance artist, schools and choreographer driven - more artistic) and that of European (music, theorist and drama driven - more accademic) contemporary dance into expressionist dance.

this is a hard question to answer because contemporary really means anything.. its not as well structured as modern with its pioneers that came from the great depression. the pioneers of contemporary dance i'm not all that familiar with its a broad subject . I do know the difference in european ballet dacers and the american ones.. they say that the american dancers you can tell because they put more emphasis on fast footwork and technique where the european ballet dancers are seen doing more grand/open work to show off their flexibility.
maybe knowing that it can apply to your needs? who knows.
