Not quite, their response time is dramatically decreased. Also, they don't tend to reach too far. Not to mention, the data the transmit is far less than that of a common cordless telephone; and yet cannot seem to reach half as far.
To be quite honest, they are nice, but they could be made better. As for battery life, can't complain about that. Bustin' out my 320'th hour on my mouse now.

hey as long as they work its fine and its cordless. As for the battery life who cares you just replace them. Am i right or am i right?
