BBMak - Still On Your Side [which could technically be for a partner too, but the lyrics are ambiguous enough you might be able to make it work]
Dar Williams - You're Aging Well [I personally like the live version with both Dar Williams and Joan Baez more, though that's a personal preference and they have the same lyrics/melody; the live version has harmony too though]
Nine Days - Good Friend [this one is pretty self-explanatory]
Eve 6 - Friend of Mine [though it's somewhat dysfunctional, it does involve friendship that endures through difficulties]
Warren Zevon - Don't Let Us Get Sick [Jill Sobule also did a version; you can pick whichever you prefer. This song is less about friendship specifically, but it could fit. I used to sing this to my cat when I took him to vet appointments because it would calm him down. *g*]

the only song for friends i can think of is "us against the world" by play. haha. not that uhh.. grown up.. but whatever haha i always liked that song.
