I just got a new laptop a few days ago, and it's running Windows Vista Basic. I just tried to open Word for the first time today, and it says it requires a product key. I clicked cancel or whatever, and it said I had 25 days of use before a product key would be required. I thought Microsoft Word was a defualt program on Windows...
Do you now have to pay for it?

Um I've never had to pay for it before and I've owned like 6 different computers over the past 6 years.

word is a part of office and you now have to buy it seperately, it is not in your pc as standard any more, why not try open office? it is fully compatible with microsoft office and is free. you can get it at www.openoffice.org hope this helps

They give you a trial on your laptop eventually you will have to buy a Product Key.
