yes they have a shot. the nl central is weak.
"In a weakened National League Central, there's certainly enough there. If Ben Sheets is healthy, he and Chris Capuano might be the best 1-2 starting-pitching punch in the NL. First baseman Prince Fielder hit 28 home runs as a rookie last season, second baseman Rickie Weeks has the quickest wrists this side of Gary Sheffield, top prospect Ryan Braun has a shot at the third-base job and Melvin won't hesitate to bring wunkerkind pitcher Yovani Gallardo to the big-league club. Add in Bill Hall, who hit 35 home runs last season, and closer Francisco Cordero, who Melvin acquired in the Carlos Lee deal last season, and it's certainly a good start.
"Ryan Howard is five years older than Prince Fielder," Melvin said. "He'll have 125 home runs by the time he gets to Howard's age. Chase Utley is 28 and Rickie's just 24. We like our young guys."
Aside from signing starter Jeff Suppan to replace the traded Doug Davis, most of the Brewers' changes this offseason were complementary. When shortstop J.J. Hardy and Weeks went down with injuries last year, the Brewers struggled to replace them, so Melvin re-signed Tony Graffanino and brought in Craig Counsell to hold down utility spots."- jeff passan(yahoo sports)

The Brewers are a dark horse pick in the NL Central - if they can avoid the injury bug that seems to plague them every year. They play in a division in which 83 wins was enough to win in 2006. Their starting pitching, if healthy, is as good as almost any in the NL, with only the Dodgers, Padres, and maybe Phillies and Marlins better. A top 4 of Sheets, Capuano, Suppan, and Doug Davis is pretty solid. If Prince Fielder and Ricky Weeks can stay healthy and continue their development, the Brewers certainly have a chance. Because they are the Brewers, everything probably won't go as planned, but their days of being non-competitive are ending.

in the nl central, they do. The cardinals are overrated, and nobody repeats as champs anymore. The astros can't do much, and the cubs have a habit of getting great players injured or sucking. Did everyone see that Kerry Wood got hurt again, getting out of a hot tub. I think the young Brewers team stands a pretty good chance, but for the wild card, as one of the three above teams will be able to hold them off.

all human beings keeps conversing bearing directly to the Brewers give way final 12 months. yet i think of it replaced right into a mix of the Cubs beginning out horribly and then whilst they have been given some adult men back from harm they became it on. Pinella experimented with the lineup till after the all megastar destroy . This 12 months he knows his workers extra desirable, they have Fukudome and the lack of ability of Jones...the two pluses. shifting Dempster out of the pen would be a solid circulate besides. because it stands staggering now i think of the Cubs might desire to be the sought after. Brewers would be struggling with it out for 2nd with the two the enjoying cards or Reds.

They could, but they really didn't do much in the off-season and they've got a tough division this year I think. I'm going to say they'll be 5th but only because the Cubs have improved greatly, the Reds are getting better, and the Cards and Astros are always up there.

The Brew Crew always seems to play good early then fade late, but 162 games does that to a lot of teams.I believe they are gonna suprise some people and play well but no playoffs this year

They would have to put together a really special season. I think they will post a much better record than last year but they still have a ways to go before they can compete with the elite teams.

Yes. Really upgraded with Suppan to go with Sheets and Capuano. Offense is average but if they stay healthy they will finish above .500
