I think the classic recording that I remember is by Vaughn Monroe. He had a beautiful deep, dramatic voice that was perfect for the song.

My Dad is a huge Marty Robbins fan and he's the only one I ever heard perform that song, until I went and saw the movie last night. I was skeptical- usually those kinds are cheesy- BUT I liked it a lot. I mean, it isn't award winning but it was highly entertaining. Good to see Nicholas Cage actually do something worth seeing. The remake of the song is good too. :-)

Spiderbait plays the song. I went to the movie last night to see it and I thought the movie was pretty good. It was kinda cheesy in places but it was good. I really liked the remake of the song so I stayed through all the credits to see who made the remake...

if it's the original version I believe it's the Doors? not sure, but I think that's right.
Well, at least, they've got that one song, "Riders on a Storm".
BTW, was that movie any good? My boyfriend has threatened to drag me along to it on Sunday.
Frankly, it looks like ****. It looks rediculously stupid, but then again, I'm a girl, and this is clearly a dude-movie

Geez, I think everybody has done that song, havent they? I play it all the time, as a tuning test for my guitar. My favorite so far is "the Outlaws", But I havent seen the movie yet, so I cant say who it is.
