the door handles have thick plastic rings under them at pivot point and no room for tool. no back side acess. need help

I have a 66 Mustang. Might be same as yours. My handles have a small screw in the middle of the handle and there is no C-clip behind the rings. Look at the outside of the handle for a screw head. It might be an Allen wrench head or Phillips head and turn them counter-clockwise to remove the screw. Note the location of the handles so you can put them back in the correct position and then they should just pull off.

Get a coat hanger and cut out the center.
next form it into a J
now slide it between that black ring. There is a clip that looks like a hores shoe.
You hook it with the J tool and off will come the clip and then the handle.

You need a fork looking tool to pry back the upolstery and pull a c-clip out

You will need a few supplies:

Grease
Butter
Eggs
Pointy thing
phlegm

now look at the door handle and command it to remove itself

THAY SHOULD BE A C SHAPE CLIP BEHIND THE HANDLE JUST PUSH IT OFF WITH A FLAT HEAD SCREWDRIVER.
