Ugly is in the eye of the beholder, just as is beauty.

There are things that I see in faces that I find ugly. Avarice, gluttony, hatred, anger, pettiness, slothfulness, small spirit. To name just a few.

These are the things that shape the face over the years. They all leave wrinkles and marks showing the true spirit behind the eyes, the emotion that face expressed most frequently. These things can render even a symmetrically perfect face uglier than a bullfrog on LSD.

Remember cultural standards of beauty change from era to era and nation to nation. One nation's long floppy flat breasts are another nations' biggest sexual attraction. Fat lips may be in in one place and considered ugly in another. And so on.

And if you throw love into the bargain, even the ugliest face can be rendered beautiful and memorable.

Bad skin, bad teeth, oily hair. A calculating cold eye. These things are ugly. A tight mouth, that rarely smiles. Ugly.

To all of you who immediately listed things they really find ugly on the human face, how shallow! May your chin never multiply or your lids sink. May you never have zits or your children born with crooked teeth! Heavens, you might have to deal with it!

Just Facial Appearances:
Crooked Teeth
Heavy Acne
Uni-brows
Multiple Chins

As I list these I can think of people that have some of these features and are still quite attractive. It really just depends on what the "negative" feature is and how the person works with it.

I understand your question honey, but what is "ugly" to some is not "ugly" to all. Ugliness is a state of mind. we all have different tastes in what we like, however, statics say that overweight, acne conditions, and faces that are not symetrical are less likely to find a mate, since appearance is what attracts most of us to the opposite sex.

everything that we say is pretty is all like set into our minds. people say skinny, blond, long-haired, petite woman are pretty. people are telling us what to think is attractive!! ugly shouldn't be a word! to one person someone could be ''ugly'' but to another, that someone could be gorgeous. even if you think someone is ''ugly'' that shouldnt stop you from getting to know them. you have to see past their outer beauty and see into their heart. watch "Shallow Hal." its a funny movie with a GREAT message. you feel like a new person after you watch it.
