You need to set up a local network - you'll need a hub to do it.

Get yourself a 4 port switch and 2 ethernet cables. Plug the main computer (which becomes the server) into port 1 and the secondary computer into any other port. The last port is for connecting to another computer or another switch. Run the network setup wizard in Accessories on the All Programs menu and then go to Control Panel and on the menu on the left go to Network Places. Look for the other computer displayed as its computer name. Don't plug the main computer into the Internet and set permissions on your folders to share. If you want the main computer connected to the Internet just don't allow the secondary computer to connect to the Internet through the main computer when you run the Internet connection wizard, I mean.

The easiest way to share music between more than one computer is LAN (local area network). You don't have to have internet in order to use LAN. What you would need to have is a router (preferred wireless router, because so you can share your laptop wirelessly with your desktop(s) too), ethernet card (NIC) for each desktop (you can get either wired or wireless NIC - wired NIC would be much faster, can transfer upto 100mbs, while wireless can upto 54mbs (g) or 11mbs (b)).

Plug each NIC into each desktop, connect its cable onto its port, the other end, connects to any port from 1 - 4 (NOT the WAN port, it's for internet if you have DSL modem to connect to internet, then you would connect to this WAN port).

After all PCs/laptops connected, configure your PC/Laptop to share, by going to My Computer, select your HD you want to share, right click it, select Sharing and Security... In it you can configure how you want to share, it's easy, i've done it and transfer them wired and wirelessly very nicely. One important thing, make sure you set the settings the same for every computer. Once you've set, you'll see an icon of a hand holding the HD (like a waiter holding the tray).

I don't see any other way to do that's easier than this.

Hope this'll help.

if you want to share music or any type of file without connecting to the net if the computers are in the same place you are going to have to set up a network between the two computers .........basically you are going to have to hook a network cable between the two and go into network connections and set it up. if you dont know how to do that its a pain in the *** to do so but you can follow the wizard that usually presents itself with some ease if not you are going to have to find someone that can do it for you.

get a wireless router and connect them both to it. you don't need to be on the internet to use one, with the "net" unplugged, you can still access computers within your network.
