i need to hide a file ?

Right click the folder/file and click hidden under attributes tab- hidden.
You will still be able to see the file once doing this if you have show hidden files and folders on under Tools - Folder options - views - Show hidden files and folders. Turn this off if you do not wish to see the file.

There are two ways to do so
1> Right click on selected file or folder & open the "Properties"
Below you can see the hidden option. Check the box & click on Apply. The go to the tools menu in the upper left side of your explorer, click on folder option > View > & check the box of "Do not show hidden files or folders" > Apply it.
2> You can download some security tools like folder locker 3.0.0.1 from

This is quite simple.
Rightclick the file or folder to hide
then choose >>properties >>General>>attributes>>here check the box near to hidden. Hit apply.
Now your file of folder becomes hidden.
Not over ,
chk whether your computer is set to show hidden files. ie,
Go >>control panel >>folder options >>view>>
change the option from show hidden files and folders to do not show hidden files and folders >>
hit apply, then ok.
Now your computer wont show hidden files.

Go My computer.. the choose the file you want to hide. Once you found the file then right click on the file and choose properties then click the on the text box hidden. press okay, then when u return to back to file listing, you shall see that this is not being shown (it is hidden)...

simply click on the file or folder properties and mark on hide and than apply ok.

There are certain programs that can lock folders, or hide them. Search on download.com for file lock.
A lot of the programs cost money, but a few are free.

Right click on the Folder you want to hide or secure. Click to "Sharing and Security" option then on "Sharing" Tab you will see an option "Make this folder Private" just check it and press Ok and exit.........have a smile on your face..........

u can try any free softwares available on net... once u use that.. ur encrypted folders will look like controlpanel so that anybody opens that controlpanel will open automatically.. and when u want to retrieve them back u need to unset the s/w password... one i am using is fakefoolder.. u can search and install in ur system
