Does not apply.
For example, if you are an unmarried person with no kids and you're filling out some kind of personal information form and come to a question that says "Are you kids male or female?"....you would mark "Not Applicable" in answer to that question because it doesn't apply to you since you have no kids.

It means that it is not involved in the situation you are discussing. Has nothing to do with it.

Such as on a bill where a type of service was not given it will say N/A for not applicable. -This service wasn't given.

If it's a response to a question on a form, which is where most pjeople see the phrase, it means that the question is not about you.

For example, the question: when were you convicted of murder? The correct answer is "not applicable", if you have never been convicted of murder.

That the question is not relevant to the situation at hand (thus, not applicable).

most people don't know what n/a stands for, but you've taken this to a whole new level.
