how can you change their perception of you? I am a veryyyy shy person and it may appear as though I am standoffish, but in reality, I am not very good at approaching people that I don't know very well... I try to become more outgoing, but I'm sure that a lot of folks have already developed their impression of me, but is there any way that I convince them otherwise? Or should I stop focusing on receiving other's acceptance on me, and work on being more friendly to new folks?

Don't be excessive about anything, that is, do for yourself and do for others, this way, others can see that your a caring person. Doing obly for yourself makes you greedy, doing only for others makes you a pushover. Thus, doing unto others as you would have them do unto you is the best way to behave. You can also act like you don't know where this teaching came from.

Some people will try to do this because they are jealous and worried that they may lose the attention but I would let other people see the real me and stop letting that person bring me down. Eventually they will se that person has the problem like always. And step out of the picture every once in while and look at their actions. Don't stick with fake people!!!!
